The Tanner Wallace Podcast

Jan 5, 2021

Let’s revisit the topic of improving interactions with your partner and seeing ways to make small baby-step improvements today that make things better for you AND help you test out what may be possible in your relationship. Both are equally important on a recovery journey, and it has taken me about two years of intense challenge and change to really understand the power of an interaction effect. In this episode, I’m sharing three mindset shifts that help me get just the break in cognitive processing I need to make in-the-moment reframes that help reduce toxic fights and, in turn, open up space for me to get braver about being honest with my thinking and experiences. These are three mindset shifts I have used often lately when I feel hopeless and overwhelmed, and they’re helping me find ways to stay more connected to my partner even when I am in the middle of a painful emotional flashback.
